We need full and fair funding for our neighborhood public schools — not more privatization or school closures! Oakland educators are back in action, and ready to take the fight to Sacramento.

WHY WE FIGHT

Our strike laid the groundwork for a real movement to defend and improve public education in Oakland, and inspired educators all over California to stand up and fight back. Though we won significant gains for Oakland students, educators, and families—such as the first class size reductions for grades 4-12 in 37 years, more support for newcomers and other students with special needs, and a raise to help keep teachers in Oakland—our fight for well-funded schools is far from over. We’re just getting started!

We’re joining with educators and students from all over California for a day of action at the State Capitol to demand the full funding of our public schools, common-sense charter school accountability, and social & racial justice.
